Bucatini, sometimes also called perciatelli, is a long, spaghetti shaped pasta with a hole in it. The name comes from a couple of Italian words. The first: buco, which means hole. And then we have bucato: meaning pierced or punctured. Like perciato, which is where the other name of this pasta comes from. You can think of it as long, hollow spaghetti strands. They are therefore slightly thicker than its little brother spaghetti.
